JASON DIDNER Clean-cut rocker with Humor, Heart and Soul
Versatile singer/multi-instrumentalist Jason Didner has pulled together his love for diverse musical styles to paint a truly American picture of life in the post-9/11 era. "I use each musical style as a color in an artist's palette to get my observations across," he says. Lyrically, he can shift gears between humorous and serious, sometimes in the same song. Two of his comic tracks have been played on National Public Radio's Car Talk program and included in their first-ever music compilation in 2002.
In concert, Jason is an engaging solo acoustic performer who elicits different moods and feelings out of two instruments - his voice and an acoustic guitar. In the studio, he artfully overlays electric and acoustic guitars, bass, synthesizers and vocal harmonies to really drive his progression of thoughts into your consciousness. He does not always work alone - two of his most popular tracks are long-distance collaborative efforts with residents of Florida , Oregon and as far as Bedford , England.
“What I'm especially happy about is that different listeners around the world are picking different favorites from my collection,” Jason says. Those listens have added up; Twelve of his songs have reached the worldwide Top 20 at MP3.com for their respective genres. A Day in my Cave reached #3 position in the Blues Rock genre. Soundclick.com rated Building Up/Wall of Sound as their #3 most listened-to acoustic rock song in the world.
With his hard rock numbers, like the title track to his latest American Road CD, Jason pulls on influences as wide-ranging as Tom Petty to Van Halen. Enemy of my Enemy is outright devastating, recruiting the help of Florida guitar ace Scott Landers to create the sound and fury of war with his guitar. In his more organic, acoustic tracks, Jason re-creates the feel of his live performances with a feel-good acoustic groove called "Glass Half Full" and a loving, yet unsentimental ballad celebrating human strength called "My Gentle Warrior." Inspiration from Elvis Costello and Aimee Mann are at work here. His two years as an accompanist in Jim Kilby and the Crusade (1995 - 1997), an NJ-based, dynamic rock band have also shaped these acoustic sounds of Jason's.
