PROJECT ERIE Project Erie is the title of the band; formally The Project. The band was started in the Spring of 2005 when Nikk Cubillos and Matt Suppes were talking about starting a band outside of the Selzer School Jazz Band. Nikk's childhood friend, Ryan Flannery then joined the band shortly after. The band was united and immediately started jamming out in Nikk's basement to AC/DC songs. In the spring of '07, they added bassist Danny Cancian to their lineup and the band was complete. After some in-depth development, the band came up with a few full original songs and riffs. They were playing consistent gigs at Haworth's Open Mic Night Coffee House, the annual New Milford Carnival, Dumont High School S.O. Night, and the new Paramus Drug Awareness Rock Cafe, covering all different kinds of 70s and 80s rock, along with playing their handful of originals.
After many creative differences, the band decided to dismember Matt Suppes. Soon after, the band tried out Nikk's older brother; Alex as drummer. The chemistry was immediately present, and Alex Cubillos was deemed the new drummer. The band currently has practices 2 or 3 times a week, and plays about two shows a month. They have about 10 complete original songs as of now. They're coming up with new material while mastering a few covers, looking for more shows, and trying to save up to make a MUCH NEEDED demo.
This band is straight-up, real rock n' roll, a mix of classic/hard rock/punk. We're trying to bring back the rock n' roll that's been so sorely missed for the past 20 years. Just because we don't sound like the bands today doesn't mean we're not worth listening to. Listen to our songs on myspace to see what we're all about, if you dig it let us know!
We're open-minded to any newcomers who would like to try out for the position of a possible Lead Singer. We're looking for that of a classic rock, hard rock and punk style influence; Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Scott Weiland (S.T.P and Velvet Revolver), Greg Graffin (Bad Religion), Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) and Phillip Lynott (Thin Lizzy) for examples. Anyone that really has some range in the classic rock/hard rock/punk genre and writes some good rock n' roll lyrics would fit in with our style of music. Message any of us on here, AIM, or via email if you have any questions about upcoming shows, booking us for shows, tryouts or just want to bullshit!
